How it works

What should happen when a website agent needs staff?

The visitor needs an honest next step. Configure the agent and Ticket connection to pass the relevant request context, then show the actual handoff state. A queued request and a live conversation are different outcomes.

Define when the agent should escalate

Start with requests that need an account change, a person’s judgment or information outside approved knowledge. Make the permitted actions and escalation rules explicit. The agent should not claim it has performed an action that its tools cannot confirm.

Explain the next step to the visitor

Identify the assistant as AI and explain what information is needed for follow-up. Obtain the appropriate consent before passing information onward. Keep the request focused and avoid collecting details the team does not need.

Pass context through the configured connection

A useful handoff includes the visitor’s request, relevant conversation context and what remains unresolved. The existing application integration performs the real operation. The marketing website does not invent a Ticket API or simulate a successful submission.

Show the actual availability state

Confirm a queued Ticket only after the connected workflow confirms it. Show live takeover only when a staff member actually joins. If the service fails or is unavailable, explain the failure and offer the real available retry or contact route.

A worked example

Example: a visitor needs help changing access

The AI assistant can explain an invitation workflow from approved knowledge. When the visitor needs an account-specific access change, the configured handoff should carry the issue and checks already performed to the appropriate team.

  • AI answer: explain the relevant invitation steps.
  • Queued follow-up: acknowledge only a confirmed request awaiting staff.
  • Live takeover: identify a person only when the actual connection confirms they have joined.

Illustrative scenario. No account, post or Ticket is created.

Controls and setup

Put website agent ticket handoff into practice.

Start with a focused use case and verify the configured workflow.

Configure the complete conversation path

Embedding an agent creates a conversational entry point. Ticket creation, department routing and live takeover need the corresponding tools, permissions and connections. Verify each path independently before presenting it as available.

Preserve trust when a dependency fails

An embed loading is not evidence that an answer was delivered or a Ticket was created. Use clear error and retry states. Avoid showing a success message for a request that is still unconfirmed, and keep private team notes out of the visitor conversation.

Service questions

Website agent ticket handoff:
your questions answered.

Practical details for planning this workflow.

Does every AI conversation create a Ticket?

No. The answer and handoff workflow depend on configuration. A visitor may receive an answer without needing staff follow-up.

Is a queued Ticket the same as a live chat?

No. Queued means awaiting follow-up. Live takeover means a staff member has actually joined through the connected service.

Can I try live handoff on this site?

Open Ask Echo AI for current availability. Guided examples do not submit real requests. Live Ticket handoff and staff behavior depend on verified deployment settings.
